Creating a wall mural that will last with your child through at least their toddler years requires some thought, especially when you do not know the gender of your baby before selecting wall décor. Parents Katie and Bryan did not know if they were having a girl or a boy but knew they wanted to give their baby a nursery mural that would still be appropriate as their child got older. To them, a jungle themed room would be playful and cheerful as well as educational with all the animals as their baby grew.
Katie describes herself as artistic, taking black and white photographs and creating mosaic tables. However, drawing and painting were never her thing so finding our wall stencil kit made it possible for them to paint a jungle wall mural. In addition, the parents bought the coordinating paint kit to take the guess work out of painting the jungle scene. When baby Charlie came home from the hospital, he came home to this fabulous room created by his loving parents. Mom and dad report it took about a month to finish the project in total. They chose stencils over wall stickers because Katie thought painting the mural would be a great art project and she was nervous about stickers peeling. (Our wall decals are known for their ability not to peel but we can’t fault Katie for wanting to paint her own mural!) Before beginning the mural, she looked at our customer gallery to get some ideas. She told us once she got started, the jungle safari scene took on a life of its own. Katie’s advice if you’re just getting started painting your My Wonderful Walls mural? The stencils may bleed a little bit. To give a more crisp finish, take a fine brush and outline all of the animals and plants.
The parents say they are more than pleased with how the jungle themed nursery turned out and have received many compliments on the mural. Katie says this gave her an artistic outlet and she loved every minute of it. Her favorite part of the Jungle Safari Mural? The lion and the tree stencils. Now 8 month old Charlie has yet to pick his own favorites but he enjoys gazing at the different animals from his close up view while in his crib! We look forward to hearing about how he grows and learns surrounded by all these colorful animals. Thanks for sharing Katie and Bryan!
